Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale game which was released in February 2019. The hero-shooter developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts is one which took the world by storm as no official presser was released and the game jsut got published. The battle royale has 20 teams of three land on an island and search for weapons and supplies before attempting to defeat all other players in combat. What sets Apex Legends apart from other third person shooter games are the abilities which character has and how they affect the state of the game. Apex Legends Esports
The esports scene for Apex Legends is one that is growing steadily with various tournaments and competitive events emerging. Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts organized the first Apex Legends Global Series(ALGS) in 2020 which has since serverd as the official competitive circuit. Several organizations have formed rosters to compete in Apex for a share of the prize pool which stands at 5 million dollars. The series has two parts, the frist being an online qualifying tournament and the second being an in person LAN event. The competitive structure aims to provide opportunities for both aspiring and established players to showcase their skills and also showcase what the game has to offer for the casual players who play the game.
